Q1: How do I test my gamepad online?

Connect your controller via USB or Bluetooth to your computer, then press any button on this page. Our tool uses the HTML5 Gamepad API to detect inputs instantly in your browser without requiring any software installation or downloads.

Q2: Why isn't my controller being detected?

First, ensure your controller is properly connected and press any button to wake it up. Safari users need to enable "Gamepad" i. Some controllers (especially third-party) may require specific drivers on Windows. Try using Chrome or Edge for best compatibility.

Q3: Can I fix controller drift using this tool?

This tool helps diagnose drift by showing raw analog stick values. If the values change without you touching the stick, you have analog drift. You can use the dead zone slider to compensate for minor drift, but severe drift requires cleaning the potentiometers with contact cleaner or replacing the analog stick modules.

Q4: Does this work on mobile devices?

The Gamepad API works on Android devices with Chrome, but iOS Safari has very limited support. For best results, use a desktop browser on Windows, macOS, or Linux. Mobile browsers typically don't support USB or Bluetooth controller connections properly.

Q5: Why can’t I see my gamepad on the page?

If your gamepad isn’t showing up in the joypad tester, so it’s because browsers and even operating systems handle the Gamepad API differently. So try these steps to ensure your device is plugged in or properly connected via Bluetooth, Press some buttons (some controllers need input activation), close other applications using the gamepad and refresh your browser. If issues persist than try a different browser like Chrome or Firefox.

Q6: What information gets displayed?

The joypad tester shows the timestamp of the latest input, current analog stickpositions (Axis values), button states with analog button support, trigger pressure levels, and device identification information. You'll see whether your buttons register as fully pressed or support analog pressure input.

Q7: Does vibration feedback work?

Yes! Vibration is fully supported in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Unfortunately, Safari and some older browsers don't support the vibration API yet. If vibration controls appear but don't work, your browser likely doesn't support this feature.

Q8: Why do axis values look unusual?

Different joypad tester report input data differently depending on the device, browser, and operating system. Some sticks may have different sensitivity curves, dead zones, or axis ordering. The tester simply displays the raw data from the Gamepad API as reported by your system.
